Five offline RPGs worth the storage
Offline RPGs are a special breed. They have to hold hours of story, combat, and progression entirely on your device, and the good ones make that invisible. Here's what earned space on our phones this year.
Turn-based games lead the pack because they pause naturally. You can put the phone down mid-fight and nothing rots away while you're gone. Emberfall Legends is our current favorite for exactly this reason.
The trick with any of these is managing storage. RPGs are heavy. Clear a couple of unused apps first, and download over Wi-Fi before your trip so you're set.
We also learned to check the save system. A great RPG with cloud-only saves is useless on a plane. Look for local saves and manual save slots.
None of the picks here need a connection to reach the credits. That's the bar, and it's a surprisingly high one.
